My name is Alex Simmons, and I am a counseling intern at Insight Counseling Centers. I am completing my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marquette University. My goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. My areas of interest are depression, anxiety, stress, family relationships, grief and loss, and spiritual issues. While this is my first time working with clients as a counselor, I have five years of experience working with clients in other helping roles. I currently work with clients as a board-certified health and wellness coach, and I have worked with underserved populations to help improve their health and wellness as a health educator. My passion has always been to see clients achieve their desired level of wellness.
I see counseling as a way of partnering with my clients to help them access their strengths and gain new skills to help them cope with stress, anxiety, and depression. Counseling can also be a way for the individual to address concerns in their relationships or any spiritual issues they may be experiencing. During our sessions, you can expect me to hold unconditional positive regard for you as a person. During our sessions, we will explore your concerns using Motivational Interview and person-centered approaches. I also believe in establishing clear goals and objectives that match your values at the beginning of our time together. You can email me at alex@insightcenters.org for more information or to schedule a session.
In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, playing bass guitar, and walking at local parks.
