Insight turns 40!
The year was 1985. Here are some notable pop culture happenings from 40 years ago:
- Michael Jordan made his NBA debut
- Whitney Houston recorded her first album
- The Coca Cola company debuted “New Coke”
- The charity anthem “We Are The World” was recorded
- The movie “Back to the Future” was released
- Nintendo launched Super Mario Brothers
Some of us are thinking, “Wow, that seems like yesterday,” while others are thinking it’s ancient history.
We are taking you back to 1985 because that’s also the year Insight Counseling Centers was founded. That’s right, this year we turn 40 years old!
Forty years ago, a group of people from Vine Street Christian Church had a vision. They knew Nashville had a gap in mental health services. They envisioned a program where mental health and spirituality intersected. Where people from all faith traditions, as well as people who claimed no faith, would be welcomed and respected. That vision became the Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Tennessee, Inc., later renamed Insight Counseling Centers. Now 40 years later, we provide around 7,000 hours of counseling to individuals, couples, and families every year in ten locations across Middle Tennessee and through telehealth.
We will celebrate our “Ruby Jubilee” anniversary all year long with micro-events held throughout our service area. We’ll let you know where we’re going to be and hope you will plan to join us at one or more of these events. They won’t be the same without you!
