Imagine taking a trip overseas to a place you desperately wanted or needed to go. Upon arrival, you have a tour guide in the passenger seat of your automobile, who has been living in that area for many years. Immediately you feel welcome and confident in the ability of your newfound guide. You realize there is less fear around becoming lost in an unfamiliar territory, while also noticing you are in the driver’s seat the entire time. This simple illustration appropriately captures the working relationship necessary for us to accomplishing your goals in therapy. It is my absolute honor to be a passenger in your pursuit of purpose, hope and lifelong change. I’ve found this sacred relationship is most effective when honest exploration and intentional actions are integrated over time.
The bulk of my experience over the past five years has been working with those suffering with addictions (substance related and behavioral), co-occurring complex mental health (bipolar/depression/trauma/anxiety/schizoaffective/etc.), and relational conflicts (co-dependency/family conflict/couples). I work with individuals, couples, and families while aiming to provide a comprehensive approach that mainly focuses on synthesizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral and positive psychology.
In my spare time, I enjoy staying active through working out, rock climbing or playing softball. I continually push myself to learn through reading and practicing self-reflection daily.
